Festival Latinx: Esperanza

A FREE Community Event
Back in person for 2021 with the theme of Esperanza (Hope), Festival Latinx is a celebration of the Latino communities of the South Sound, with music, dance, art, crafts and more!
Safely enjoy performances from mariachi to salsa, along with vibrant art installations and a mercadito.
Presented in Partnership with Latinx Unidos of the South Sound, Tacoma Arts Live, City of Tacoma, Tacoma Creates, and PCAF.
Free entry to the main event with vaccination or proof of negative Covid test within 72-hours of event (PCR or rapid test only). Alternative space with onsite vaccination clinic will be available.
Events will happen in the evenings Tuesday – Saturday and on Saturday morning.

  • Exclusive new content by Brazilian vocalist, Héloa
  • Debut of collaboration between Alma Cimarrona Dance Company (Mexico City) and Trío Guadalevín (WA)
  • Partnership with Movimiento Afro-Latino de Seattle to highlight African heritage in Latin American cultures
  • Virtual family programs including Afro-Peruvian drum & dance workshop, as well as bilingual sing-a-long and animal songs/dances from Oaxaca and Guerrero
  • Performances by Washington-based musicians and dancers from Central America, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil
  • Literary readings and workshops
  • Community Dialogue with local panelists exploring Afro-Latino identity in the Northwest

  • Resource Fair of various services for your family
