Garth Brooks
As Garth put it, “I’ve got friends in low places.” And, (a bonus for moi), these friends of mine are, simply put, fricking amazing. They have always been THERE, and I can always find them when I’m down low. We connect on a level that is almost symbiotic and very much mutualistic.
These friends of mine have a dry, sarcastic and realistic sense of humor and perception. They are always ready to step up when I have stepped down, and hopefully, I am able in return. Again, it’s mutualistic.
Here’s the basic of our relationship: we aren’t necessarily low, though sometimes our humor can be found covered in dirt, and we don’t even see to judge the low that might be around us. Low, for our own personal definition is a state of mind, at any given moment. It’s where our self esteem and emotional state sink when life’s too over overwhelming. Physical, spiritual and/or emotional pain, it’s not a place one can easily navigate on their own. Though, it’s where my friendships really shine.
Having a friend who gives up something really important to help me climb out of the doldrums, that’s true and lasting friendship.
Here’s why I am writing this blog: Low friends are everywhere. The simple key to finding them is all about being nonjudgmental. Treating people without judging helps the inside of anyone shine. That bright shining light is the beacon I use when I really need a friend.
